Outdoor Research Peruvian Hat - Warm Fleece Beanie for Hiking & Skiing

I have a big melon, and finding hats that fit is always an issue. Who ever came up with the one size fits all hat designation must have only been thinking about the bottom line, as none of those size hats ever fit me. Unless squishing my head to the point of pain is fitting?Outdoor Research makes good stuff and I have plenty of their gear in my toy collection. Their gators are awesome for skiing and heavy trekking, and their hats have always been well made. Although this hat is not made in the USA like a lot of the older gear I own (talking 30 year old gators), it appears well made and sturdy. The material has a good feel to it, plenty soft and warm. It blocks the wind and covers the ears, which Is my favorite feature, especially when cycling in cold conditions. No more painful ears from the cold! And the large size actually fits my head comfortably, which is a relief. It fits well under cycling helmets, although I find it best to enlarge the helmet fitting before donning the hat.No negatives to report in a few weeks of use in temperatures down to 30F. As others have noted, the Windstopper really works, with no cold wind blowing through under a vented bicycle helmet at speeds up to 30mph.If you have a big noggin and need a cap that can cover your ears and fit under a helmet, I highly recommend this hat!
