Outdoor Research Yukon Cap - Warm Winter Hat for Hiking & Camping

The hat is warm, well-made, etc... But do note, it's appears almost sage-y green in the pics. IRL it's a deeper green. Like a mix of olive/hunter.Size large fits snugly on my 7 3/8 size noggin, the fleece and wool blend cap is warm but breathes enough to keep you comfortable when hiking in Montana weather above zero, but the lack of a securing strap to keep the flaps against your ears snugly when the wind is blowing keeps this from being a 5. Get lots of compliments on these caps (also have the green) and it is easy enough to make a securing strap with buttons.I love this hat in cold weather. I had a smaller size (large) that did not really fit by 7-7/8 head but still liked it. I finally decided to order the right size and it fits much better. Now the ear covers actually cover my ear. I like the fold up design of the hat bill also.I also have an OR coat which is the best I have ever had. That's saying a lot since this is over 60 years of coats. Their design and construction seems good.Purchased for my brother who has a smaller head. Construction is quality. It fits his head nicely; however, the ear section does not cover the ears very well. It either needs to have a stiffer type of material or a strap to hold them over your ears especially in the wind, which has been continuous for the past week. I would recommend this hat.I actually bought this because it was cheap, but it ended up being great...the flaps do cover my ears (it depends on ears I guess, some people complain they dont), wind will probably move them away but in any case, it works for me...the style, fit and warmness are welcome surprises too, highly recomended, I hope to buy a few other colors..Note that this has the split in the visor, which is IMO a simple but great innovation. This hat doesnt fold as tiny as other OR hats (because the materials are quite thick), but its still useful for making it smaller when not over your head, it fits in a pocket and is way easier to pack.Order a size up if you get this. I don't have a large head and a Medium was way too small. Material seems nice and comfortable, but sizing is odd.Comfy but sized a bit smaller than expected. Had to order one size up from my normal cap size. The flap buttons are a little tighter than I hoped, but unless you have arthritis in your fingers like this reviewer, it should not be a problem. I recommend this cap for its comfortable and warm fit.I've been looking at this hat for years and finally went for it- screw fashion, I'm happy to look like my Dad if it means my ears are warm. And I got exactly what I was looking for- great hat for winter days and the flip down ear flaps are like turning a heater on and off.I bought this hat for angling trips to northern Norway and I have to get large hats that fit quite well but this one is a bit bigger than normal but still very comfortablevery nice hat. this season I wear it every dayCan't fault this hat. Second one I've bought
