Outdoor Research Lightstorm Bucket Hat for Hiking & Travel

Perfect fort golfing in the rainy Ireland weather.I know this hat says it's for men, but I don't know any guys who would want to wear a pink hat. I happened to find this while looking for a hat for my husband, (we are paddlers and a hat like this one is a must). I thought it looked cute, so I ordered this one for myself and the more neutral version for my husband. My biggest concern was having to pick a size ... I ended up ordering a medium for myself and a large for my husband - and they fit perfectly! My hat is as cute in person as it is in the picture, (it's not just a solid pink ... it has a subtle pattern that makes it look great). I'm not typically the, "girly-girl" type, but I love that this hat looks good AND is functional. Having the option of making it tighter on windy days means I don't have to worry about losing it on the water. A great find!!All that was available was an "extra large" and there was no direction as to what that equated to in hat size and it is a little big on my 7 1/2 to 7 5/8 size head. However not big enough to warrant sending back as I like the build quality and design and it keeps the rain off my head. The neck strap keeps it from blowing away in wind. I like that it collapses to a small space that can be shoved in a jacket pocket. Would be 5 stars if there had been some info on actual hat size, and a variety of sizes to choose from.Since it was hot pink I assumed it was mis-labeled as a womens hat and medium would be the correct size, so it is a little large. I used it yesterday as a sun hat when I was touring old cemeteries. The dark underside of the brim is helpful to lessen the glarre of the sun. I really love that that it can be used as a sun hat and also as a rain hat.. I basted in a ring of filter fabric under the inside lining and it now fits just fine I love the little pocket inside the top..I love this hat. My head is larger than most women...all of the "one size fits all" hats for women do NOT fit me. This one has size options and I opted for large, which fits great. Good quality, substantial enough to keep my head dry in the rain. A little pricey, but since I have a hard time finding hats, I bought one. I wear a lot of beanies in cold weather since the sizing is not an issue with them, but this hat is perfect to keep my head DRY - no more wet beanies in the rain! :-)I haven’t had the opportunity to test this in the rain yet but I am very happy with this purchase. I use a rollator which makes it difficult to manage an umbrella. My previous rain hat did not have a chin strap and the wind would blow it off of my head. This is perfect for my needsCouldn't say enough things about this hat. It's light weight, so my head doesn't get sweaty. I can wad it up and toss it in the bottom of my bag and it comes right back to shape when needed. The rim is as pictured, so it won't fully protect your face or neck in a downpour or when the winds blow the rain at an angle, but it's great for the constant drizzle we have in Seattle. The little strap is just the right size to not dig into your skin when the wind blows and it keeps the hat in place perfectly. Plus it's adorable in pink. Love love love it.I am very happy with this purchase. Just what I needed in the rainy Pacific Northwest. This keeps me nice and dry, the brim is wide enough to keep my glasses dry too.
